What is ppf?

A government savings account with a 15 year lock-in and tax free interest.

PPF stands for Public Provident Fund. You can put in up to ₹1.5 lakh a year, the interest rate is declared by the government, and both the interest and the maturity amount are tax free. It is very safe and very illiquid.
