Privacy policy

What is collected, why, how long it is kept, and how to get it deleted.

This is a draft, not a finished legal document. It is structured around India Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025, but the details below describe intended practice rather than an audited position. It needs legal review and a technical audit before launch.

The short version

You can use the learning hub, the glossary, the FAQ and the daily market update without an account and without giving us anything. Data is collected only where it is needed to provide something you asked for.

What is collected

Without an account. Basic technical information such as pages visited and approximate location derived from your connection, used to keep the service working and to understand which content is useful.

With an account. Your name, email address, and any investments you choose to add along with the reasons you record for them.

If you connect a broker. Read only holdings and transaction information, where you explicitly authorise it. This is optional and is never required to use AlphaVik.

What is never collected

  • Your broker password or trading PIN.
  • Any credential that would allow AlphaVik to place an order on your behalf.
  • Bank account credentials.

AlphaVik cannot buy or sell anything on your behalf, and does not hold the access that would make that possible.

Why it is collected

  • To provide the features you asked for, such as saved reasons and portfolio views.
  • To keep your account secure and prevent misuse.
  • To understand which content helps people, in aggregate.
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations that apply to us.

Your data is not sold. It is not shared with advertisers. It is not used to build a profile for anyone other than you.

How long it is kept

Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is deleted within a reasonable period except where we are required by law to retain specific records for longer. Aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Withdraw consent you previously gave.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you are unable to.

You can also raise a grievance with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to those who need it, and access is logged. Any personal data breach will be notified to affected individuals and to the Data Protection Board in accordance with the applicable rules.

No system is perfectly secure. Use a strong unique password and enable any additional verification offered.

Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies are used to keep the site working and to keep you signed in. Any analytics used are for understanding which content is useful in aggregate, and you will be asked before any non essential cookie is set.

Children

AlphaVik is intended for adults. Where the law requires verifiable parental consent for a person under 18, that consent is required before an account is created.
