What AlphaVik cannot do

Trust is built by being clear about the edges, not by hiding them in small print. This page states them before you rely on anything here.

Not available yet. Investment views, ratings and allocation suggestions are built but switched off. They stay off until the relevant compliance clearance is complete in India. Nothing on this page is available today.

Five things stated plainly

  • Markets can fall, and can stay down for years. You can lose money, including a permanent loss if a company fails.
  • Nobody can predict prices. Not a fund manager, not an analyst, not a computer. AlphaVik reads evidence. It does not see the future.
  • AlphaVik never places an order. It has no ability to buy, sell or move money, and holds no credential that would allow it. You decide and you act.
  • A view can be wrong. When one is, it is stated openly along with what was missed.
  • It does not know your full financial life unless you tell it. Your savings, debts, insurance and timeline matter more than any individual view.

Why no honest service guarantees returns

A return depends on events that have not happened and decisions millions of people have not yet made. Anyone offering certainty about that is describing their confidence, not the world.

In India this matters practically rather than philosophically. A guaranteed high return on a market linked product is one of the most reliable indicators of fraud, and it appears in nearly every scheme that later collapses.

What the regulator has measured

SEBI studies the outcomes of individual traders using data from the brokers themselves. These are counts, not opinions, and they are worth knowing before deciding what kind of investor to be.

  • 65% to 71% of individual intraday traders lost money each year from FY20 to FY24.
  • 91% of individual equity derivatives traders lost money in FY25, with net losses of about Rs 1.06 lakh crore.
  • Across FY22 to FY24, 93% lost money and only about 1% earned more than Rs 1 lakh a year after costs.

See intraday trading and futures and options for the full picture.

Before you invest anything

These come first, in this order, and each of them is closer to certain than any investment return.

  • An emergency fund of three to six months of expenses, so a bad month never forces you to sell during a fall.
  • Clearing high interest debt. A credit card at 36% to 42% a year is a guaranteed negative return.
  • Term and health insurance, if people depend on your income. Protection is not an investment and should not be sold to you as one.

Spotting fraud

The features below recur in nearly every investment fraud in India. None of them is subtle once you know to look.

  • Guaranteed or fixed returns on a market linked product.
  • Requests to transfer money to a personal account rather than a designated client account.
  • Pressure to act immediately, or a closing offer.
  • Offers to trade on your behalf for a share of profits, without proper registration.
  • A platform that is not registered with SEBI, or a registration number you are told not to bother checking.

Verify any intermediary on the SEBI website rather than trusting a number displayed on their own site. See choosing a broker.

What AlphaVik is, and is not, today

What is published right now is educational: 42 lessons, a glossary of 93 terms, a categorised FAQ and a blog. All free, all open, none of it a recommendation about any security.

Investment views, ratings, allocation suggestions and personalised advice are built but switched off. They remain off until the relevant compliance clearance is complete in India.

AlphaVik is not a registered investment adviser or research analyst, does not manage money, does not execute trades, and does not provide advice tailored to your personal circumstances. Nothing here is a personal recommendation, and you remain responsible for every decision you make.

If something here does not match what you were told elsewhere, trust the regulator. SEBI publishes investor education material and a public register of every legitimate intermediary. Checking takes two minutes and is worth doing before any money moves.
